Re-Solv opened an office in Scotland in April 2002. Originally
situated along the M8 corridor, a new office in Edinburgh was
opened in September 2008.
In 2003 Re-Solv became involved in a legislative campaign focussed
on retail of Butane cigarette lighter fuel. Having advised MSP's
on the current legislation and proposed changes for butane,
a pilot test-purchasing scheme was agreed in Fife. Re-Solv worked
in partnership with key partners such as The Scottish Executive,
Fife Council's Trading Standards Department and the Scottish
Drugs Forum, to produce materials aimed at raising awareness
among shop staff in Fife of the law around the sale of butane
gas lighter refills to children.
During work with the Scottish Executive, the government run
"know the score" campaign aimed at drugs awareness
was adjusted to include solvent abuse awareness material - a
booklet called 'Know the Score - Volatile Substance Abuse' was
produced, based on information provided by Re-Solv.
The highlight of 2007 was the Re-Solv / Forth Valley SAT Conference
held on 4th September in Stirling. This was a combined VSA Conference
and launch of our new 'Social Work Pack', which is a training
programme for social work staff. It includes a broad range of
materials and information for people working with vulnerable
young people and children in Scotland.
The Social Work Pack promoted a collaboration with the Institute
for Research and Innovation in Social Services (Scotland) to
create a web-based resource of the pack. It can be found on
their Learning
Exchange, which is a digital library of learning resources
for social services and social work education and training and
includes three audio recordings between our Field Officer and
young people who are 'looked after' and live in a residential
establishment.
