Resources for use with young people
	“Toxic Agents Activities Pack” Designed in consultation with primary school teachers and their students, Toxic Agents is the most detailed resource available on the subject of VSA for primary school Key Stage 2. Within the context of using everyday products safely, Toxic Agent provides teachers with the accessible, easy-to-use resources needed for introducing the subject of VSA to an impressionable age-group. Contains a comprehensive 70 page Teacher’s Activity Pack, 7 minute DVD, classroom posters, 30 leaflets, 30 glossy assorted character postcards and 30 stickers.	£35
	“Hazard Crew” Information Pack Meet B*rad and the six other members of the Hazard Crew, whose different stories help 11-14 year olds understand the issues that surround VSA. Developed in consultation with teachers and young people, and designed by Aardman Animations, the Hazard Crew resource contains a 32 page Teacher’s Guide, classroom posters, 30 leaflets, 30 glossy assorted character postcards and 30 rulers.	£30
	“A Loaded Gun” DVD and Teachers Manual This resource follows the PSHE framework for Key Stages 3 and 4, and is designed to provide a comprehensive drug-awareness session on VSA. It presents key factual information, as well as exploring the impact of VSA on family and friends. The pack contains a 12 minute DVD, and a 32 page Teacher’s Guide with suggested lesson plans and class activities.	DVD £20
	“The Silent Killer” DVD with Resources’s Booklet The Silent Killer is a short documentary detailing a community memorial walk held on the first anniversary of the death of Steven Blacker, a 14-year-old boy from Derbyshire who died in 2006, sniffing petrol. The 8-minute DVD also contains interviews with Steven's mother and younger brother, and is accompanied by a teacher’s booklet, containing factual information and activities. This is an ideal resource, not only for VSA but for broader PSHE discussions on issues of personal choice, responsibility and the consequences of one's actions.	DVD £10
	“Aqua Cards ” This squishy, credit-card sized resource is popular with ages 15 and up. Developed in consultation with young people, the cards remind holders of the fact that “Sniffing can kill in a heartbeat” and are printed with vital facts about VSA and useful contact information. Training materials for professionals
	“Youth Workers Activities Pack” This resource enables youth workers (and others working directly with young people) to address the problems of VSA. Accessible, easy-to-use activities such as the perennially popular ‘Egg Roulette’ are designed to grab attention and encourage participation, conveying serious messages in a non-threatening but memorable way. The pack also contains communication tools, and the key factual information about VSA that professionals need.	£20
	“Tackling VSA” Tackling VSA offers a training programme for social service staff, managers and commissioners, and is designed to support the National Occupational Standards and Health Advisory Service Tier One training for substance misuse. The training pack is ideal for staff who may not necessarily be trained in drug and alcohol issues but who are best placed to screen individuals who are vulnerable to VSA, or to recognize those currently using substances.	£20
	“Tackling VSA in Scotland” Tackling VSA offers a training programme for staff within Scottish social work departments. This colourful, well-planned pack is ideal for staff who may not necessarily be trained in drug and alcohol issues but who are best placed to screen individuals who are vulnerable to VSA, or to recognize those currently using substances. Awareness materials to inform adults
	“Keep your Child Safe and Sound” A parents’ guide to VSA. Designed for parents, but equally useful for teachers and youth workers, this booklet contains all the information parents need to know to help them protect their children from volatile substance abuse. It includes basic information about products in the home, the effects VSA might have, the reasons why a child might begin ‘sniffing’ and how best to help them.	£10 for 10
	“Cupboard Leaflet ” Created for parents, this glossy leaflet is designed to look like a kitchen cupboard and opens out to reveal a range of misusable household products. The leaflet contains information on how to recognise signs of VSA and advice on how best to talk to your children about the dangers in an open and relaxed way.	£15 for 50

	“A Loaded Gun” This DVD provides a great factual introduction to VSA and the social issues that surround it. In addition, it includes comprehensive information about the law as it pertains to VSA, and details retailers’ legal responsibilities under the Cigarette Lighter Refill (Safety) Regulations 1999 on the sale of butane gas cigarette lighter refills.
